The Mutua Madrid Open not only brings together the best rackets on the planet, but it does so in one of the most iconic venues in world tennis: the Caja Mágica. Since its move to this state-of-the-art facility in 2009, the Madrid tournament has consolidated its status as one of the most prestigious events on the circuit.

Designed by the prestigious French architect Dominique Perrault, the Caja Mágica is a masterpiece of functional and aesthetic architecture. Built in steel, glass and wood, it adapts to weather conditions by means of movable roofs that allow indoor courts to be transformed into outdoor spaces.

Sabalenka and Ruud govern in Madrid

On the clay court of the Caja Mágica, Aryna Sabalenka signed a victory that already belongs to history: her third title in Madrid, after those achieved in 2021 and 2023. She beat Coco Gauff in a final that combined power, intensity and competitive maturity. The world number one became only the second player to win the Madrid WTA 1000 three times, equalling Petra Kvitová.

In the men’s draw, Casper Ruud completed his own story. In 2009, he visited the Caja Mágica as a spectator. Now he did so to win his first Masters 1000 title, defeating Jack Draper in a memorable final. He came without the media spotlight, after discreet weeks in Monte Carlo and Barcelona, but reaffirmed that clay is still his terrain.

Madrid Open Trophy

It shines like a jewel in the light of the Caja Mágica, but it is not just any trophy: it is a sculpture. ”Kineo,” the work created by David Rodríguez Caballero for the Mutua Madrid Open 2025, is the fourth trophy he has signed for the tournament and perhaps the most ambitious.

The sculptor decomposes the sphere - the perfect shape of a tennis ball - into a three-dimensional mandala, inspired by the circular gestures the body makes when serving. Made of aluminium and brass, with sanding and erosion treatments, it vibrates with light and offers a different experience from every angle.
