One of the most prestigious hotels in Málaga was built at the beginning of the 20th century and was formerly known as Hotel Príncipe de Asturias. The work was carried out by the architect Fernando Guerrero Strachan, who was inspired by the Hotel Ritz in Madrid and Le Riviera Palace in Montecarlo.

King Alfonso XIII and Queen María Victoria Eugenia de Battenberg inaugurated it in 1926 and were so captivated by the neo-Arabic architecture and the extensive gardens that the queen stayed there for a few summers.

In 1939 it changed its name to the Hotel Miramar, where prominent film celebrities such as Elizabeth Taylor, Ava Gardner, Orson Welles and Anthony Quinn stayed; important literary personalities such as Ernest Hemingway and Jean Cocteau.

From 1987 to 2007 it was the headquarters of the Provincial Court of Malaga and since 2017, the resort reopened its doors as a five-star luxury hotel to accommodate in its suites some personalities of the national and international jet set.

Among the most sophisticated rooms is the Royal Suite which combines classical and Arabic style and has a spacious terrace equipped with an outdoor Jacuzzi for unparalleled views of the Mediterranean Sea. While the Crown Suite features a private terrace equipped with comfortable wrought iron furniture, an outdoor Jacuzzi and views of the city’s historic buildings and the hotel’s gardens.

The hotel also has an exclusive space designed for relaxation and renewal of body and mind, the Botanic Spa by Sisley is an oasis of well-being created through the harmonious combination of Moorish tradition and the use of natural products from the prestigious Sisley brand.

Guests can enjoy hydrotherapy with a heated pool composed of different jets, Finnish sauna, hammam, ice fountain, a circuit of sensory showers, as well as an exclusive double VIP room with private Turkish bath that communicates with another hot stone room where individual wraps can be performed.

To enjoy signature cocktails with a view of the Mediterranean and live music, there is the Media Luna Chill Out Terrace on the seventh floor of the hotel. Some of the options to try are the Mojiterráneo which has Gin Mare mixed with basil, fresh mint, lemon, lime, orange and is complemented with tonic water or the Pistachio Gin Sour made with gin, lemon juice, sugar, egg white and pistachio, which is recommended with a crispy lobster brioche, king prawns, avocado and wasabi lime mayonnaise.
